The Law Commission for England and Wales today published its recommendations for the reform of Wedding Law proposing a fairer system. At the core of the report is the recommendation that, rather than venues needing a license to hold weddings, the Officiant responsible will be the one required to be licensed. This is great news.
Now, it is vital that the people making the decision on this during the review and eventually (we hope) voting stage, understand the roles of the professionals involved. In particular, there is concern that we make it clear that Independent Celebrants need to be included, not just Humanist Celebrants.
